  • Was using a stock Nexus 7 (2013) to chromecast a few shows and it the Avia would disconnect 30 minutes into the shows. Happened 3 times last night. I had to resort to Allcast to continuing watching via the Chromecast without any issues.. Could be a possible bug. Hope it gets fixed.

  • Now having casting issues with the Avia app to my Chromecast. It plays for 3 seconds, then lags, then plays for 3 seconds, lags. Is there an update due soon to address this kind of issue?

  • This enabled me to use my media server on my MacBook to play movies and music on my Chromecast through my television. Like I used to do on my PS3. The only problem I've had is that the app has trouble playing the next movie. I have to disconnect from the Chromecast and reconnect or it just sits there with a spinning wheel. Music seemed to go to the next song in my playlist without a problem.

  • I've gone 48 hours without Avia trying to update and request I pay again. Remade all my playlist.. not thrilled that I have to keep doing this but it's working. Seriously though, how hard is it to add an "export playlist to sdcard" option? Why does it save the playlist in /data/ folder anyway and not the /storage/Android/data/? Makes no sense.. 80% of my issues would be resolved with that change.

  • Looks like re-installing the app fixed the thumbnails issue but I did notice that now the Media Database takes a long time to build even with just 5 videos and a handful of images on my phone.

  • Con's you into paying to cast, then when you do pay its an in app purchase so I'm not sure how to get a refund because it doesn't work at all. Incompatible device? Or scam? From my droid turbo.

  • If I want an app to cast media (such as videos like I tried,) you shouldn't have to pay the first time. You should get at least 1 test to see if you are satisfied. Do not download for video streaming unless you want to pay.

  • .... but no chromecast in the app unless you pay for an upgrade. Why not just charge for the app? It's like charging for a web browser, who would when a dozen other apps do casting for free? Granted you said it's in app purchase but that unlocks everything, so why put just chromecast in the title unless you trying to lure in people looking for a chromecast app alternative? Bah....

  • The video player itself will NOT play embedded subtitles with mkv files. Crappy player aside, you have to pay $2.00 just to stream to your Chromecast! I already bought the Chromecast, stop trying to piggyback off of Google you rotten thieves!

  • Does not playback all video formats when using the chromecast. A simple Avi format doesn't mirror on the tv. It's ridiculous especially when you pay $4.99 when other apps that play the same way are free. PLEASE FIX!

  • I should be able to add and remove media from the DLNA server. I should be able to rename files and perform other edits from my phone. The player and chromecast should accept and play a wider range in media formats.

  • This app can manage and play media files, but I say that in the loosest sense of the phrase. File management is unintuitive, and leaves much to be desired. Video playback works roughly 60% of the time. Chromecast functionality is straight-up BROKEN. It didn't work when they first announced it, and it still does not work today. I feel ashamed to have given these people money.

  • One suggestion though: could you just enable subtitles by default for casting without the need to go through choosing a file, the way it currently works when streaming on own device. In my setup, the subtitle srt file is named exactly as the video file and resides in same directory. Thank you.

  • An impulse purchase to get streaming ability from my WD MyBookLive to my chromecast. It doesn't work. Have tried from my Nexus 7 and my Note 3. I can stream to my tablet or phone from the WD device just fine, but casting just hangs. Also, no sound from some .MKV files. I would like a refund please

  • Casting from a media server on works very well. I would also like to see more integration with other cloud services such as Copy where you can get a lot more free storage than Dropbox.

In-app purchase of $4.99 gives you Chromecast support, casting to Apple TV, Roku, WebOS and UPnP/DLNA enabled devices, access to Dropbox, support for themes and an ad-free interface.

It's been almost a year since Avia's Chromecast release. Chromecast has been a success for Avia, to say the least. To add to the sweetness, we're now supporting casting to Apple TV, Roku and WebOS devices along with an updated UI, icons and themes. Avia 7.2 also offers overall stability improvements. Here are the features of 7.2:

Features:
• Updated user interface with simpler navigation and smoother response
• New icons throughout the app
• Casting to Apple TV
• Casting to Roku devices (need to install Avia for Roku)
• Casting to WebOS enabled TVs
• Improved stability and support for the latest Google Chromecast software
• Full playback control from your phone or tablet
• Music album artwork and artist images displayed on your TV

And of course, Avia still allows you to: Share your photos, videos and music on these devices: Chromecast / Roku / Apple TV / WebOS TV's / Xbox One / Google TV / PC / Mac

Play and manage media stored on your Android device, in the cloud or from these devices: Facebook / Dropbox / Google+ Photos (Picasa) / Network Attached Storage (NAS) / Windows Media Player (WMP) / XBMC / Serviio / Plex / Subsonic / PC / Mac / Other Android Devices

Finally, here are a few pieces of advice to get the most out of Avia:
• To cast to Roku devices, please install the Avia for Roku channel that will appear on your Roku screen.
• Make sure your Android device and device you want to cast to, e.g. Chromecast, are using the same Wi-Fi network.
• When using Avia to access media from other devices, they must have UPnP/DLNA serving enabled.
• When casting from Avia, files MUST be compatible with the receiving device. Many devices have fewer compatible codecs than a home computer.
• Please review your media formats with the specifications of your devices before attempting to cast. (Example: Chromecast is not compatible with .AVI files.) Please see the video conversion guide at http://aviatheapp.com/support.

If you have questions, comments or feedback, please check out our support page at http://aviatheapp.com/support/

If the Chromecast icon is still missing, troubleshoot suggestions are below :
• Reboot WiFi router (optional: change WiFi channel), reset factory settings on Chromecast, rename Chromecast and re-install Avia.
